Telstra on hold over $A11bn deal

Sep 08, 2010 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Government's decision to focus on the early rollout of the national broadband network in rural areas may affect the $A11 billion agreement between NBN Co and Telstra. It involves the transfer of customers from Telstra's copper network to NBN Co's fibre-optic cables. Christian Guerra, of Goldman Sachs, believes the focus on rural areas will be more beneficial to Telstra's competitors than to Telstra.
