"Innovation in Education" Grants Available to Orange County Classrooms


RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Cox Communications is offering $50,000 in Innovation in Education grants to Orange County public, charter and private schools in the Cox (News - Alert) service area to help fund innovative programs for students in grades K-12.

Principals, administrators, and teachers at eligible schools are encouraged to submit an application for innovative projects that utilize technology-based curriculum to enhance the traditional classroom experience in one of the following areas:

  • Skills Based Learning - Projects that focus on learning skills and behaviors that are based on real-life scenarios;
  • STEAM Learning - Science, Technology, Engineering, Art/Design, and Mathematics;
  • Digital Literacy - Creative ways that teach youth how to navigate today's online envronment;
  • Cyber Citizenship (Internet Safety/Cyberbullying) - Education that encourages safe and healthy online behavior.



Through the program, a total of $50,000 in grants will be awarded to schools that are located within Cox Communications' Orange (News - Alert) County service area. Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to schools or classrooms. The deadline to apply for an Innovation in Education grant is Friday, October 17, 2014.

The Innovation in Education grant program is part of Cox Communications' long-standing commitment to education, which includes awarding more than $150,000 annually in scholarships from the Cox Cares Foundation to graduating high schools seniors in California.
