Ofcom and Sky to Speak at Connected Britain

LONDON, April 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --

Executives from Ofcom, Sky and the Scottish government will be among the speakers at the first ever Connected Britain event, which will be held in London on 16-17 June.

This is the first event after the U.K. general election to address the issues associated with the provision of broadband and mobile services across the U.K. It will bring together the entire ecosystem of stakeholders in the connectivity debate, from telecom operators to local and national government, trade associations, NGOs, advisers and suppliers to the sector.

Its objective is to create a platform for debate. Key areas of discussion will centre on the delivery and development of broadband networks and services, the options for funding rollout, and the economic benefits of boosting connectivity.

The line-up of speakers includes expert voices from all the major U.K. operators as well as those in a position to speak up for end users of communication services.

Attendees can learn from:

Sami Susiaho, Head of Edge Technologis, Sky

Hear how there is still untapped potential in WiFi; understand where we are heading and how your business can profit from future innovation.

Philip Marnick, Group Director, SPG, Ofcom

As the 5G debate heats up, Ofcom looks to explore solutions within the spectrum and how it could offer significant capacity for faster 5G mobile data. This could pave the way for new mobile services for UK consumers and businesses.

Colin Cook, Deputy Director, Digital Strategy & Programmes Division, Scottish government

Superfast broadband is a hot topic on the government's agenda. Hear about the future ecosystem of broadband and how your business can invest in rural areas.
