Versar and Lemko Submit $150 Million in Grant Apps for Rural Wireless Broadband Carriers
By Kelly McGuire, TMCnet Editor
Versar, Inc., a global project management company, and Lemko Corp., a communications software firm, have successfully teamed up with rural wireless broadband carriers to submit grant applications of more than $150 million under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, or “ARRA,” for selected rural carriers in Pennsylvania, North Dakota, Wisconsin and New York.
In April 2009, Versar and Lemko announced a strategic partnership to deliver a 4G network solution for rural America.
So, in collaborating together a second time, the grant applications offer an all-include, 4G-ready, mobile broadband system which highlights Versar’s construction and project management services and Lemko’s Node1TM mobile broadband cellular system.
Bo Pyskir, president of Lemko, said that the company’s solutions deliver mobile broadband data, high quality voice and text services at a sustainable business case for even the smallest markets.
"Our software only approach ensures that operators have a clear and affordable path to next generation technology," Pyskir said.
By combining these companies’ products and services, a deployable, shovel ready and complete turn-key solution providing wireless broadband to under-served areas in these states is the final product.
Versar President and CEO Ted Prociv said that, upon award notification, the company is ready to deploy Lemko’s mobile broadband network.
“Our plan is to bring our telecommunications program management services to the rural carriers and deliver a timely, cost-efficient solution that clearly exceeds the intent of this important broadband stimulus effort," Prociv said.
