This month should prove to be an entertaining one in terms of the broadband stimulus program. Not only is the big lead-up to the winner announcements for the first round, but it’s also the month in which incumbent operators get a chance to comment on other organizations’ applications for said funds.

The government has invited incumbents to weigh in whether requests for broadband stimulus funds are actually for areas that are unserved or underserved in terms of broadband. And things are already getting ugly, as some have suggested that larger interests might attempt to muddy the waters by launching campaigns to advertise broadband offers that aren’t actually available.

It should be interesting.
