Overture Networks (News - Alert), a provider of Carrier Ethernet solutions has been named as the market leader in the recently published "Carrier Ethernet Access Platforms" (CEAP) tracker.

The CEAP tracker has cited Overture as a market leader in Carrier Ethernet edge and aggregation platforms, leading both the Ethernet-over-copper and Ethernet-over-TDM categories, company officials said.

The report further states Overture is well positioned to address the challenges of the CEAP market across all access categories. The company has been at the top of the Ethernet-over-bonded copper pair segment quarter after quarter, and held a commanding lead of the Ethernet-over-TDM access circuit platform market.

"These are exciting times for Overture as we continue to experience significant growth as a company, and as we pursue innovative product strategies to help our service provider customers win new business in an increasingly competitive market," said Jeff Reedy (News - Alert), chief executive officer, Overture Networks, in a statement.

Overture Networks is committed to maintain and extend that position through continued focus on making our service provider customers successful, Reedy added.

The report finds the global CEAP market grew about 11 percent year-over-year from $765 million in the first half of 2010 to more than $850 million in the first half of 2011, despite macro-economic difficulties.

Additionally, the report estimates the CEAP market will have a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11 percent between 2010 and 2016, reaching nearly $2.95 billion at the end of this period, company officials said.

Earlier this year, Infonetics (News - Alert) Research said the Carrier Ethernet switch and IP router market grew 20.5 percent to $12.8 billion in 2010 over 2009, led by North America. In the fourth quarter of 2010, sales of IP edge and core routers and carrier Ethernet switches have gone up by 15.2 percent from the previous quarter, and increased by 23.4 percent from the year-ago quarter, the report said.
