RAD Data Communications (News - Alert), a manufacturer of high quality access and backhaul equipment for data communications and telecommunications applications, announced its ETX-205A Carrier Ethernet demarcation device has won the award for Best Mobile Backhaul Product at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress.

ETX-205A is an advanced Carrier Ethernet demarcation device designed for mobile backhaul and business and wholesale service applications. The device combines a cell-site gateway or a small hub device with Ethernet demarcation functionalities and helps backhaul and transport providers, as well as fixed-mobile carriers, guarantee differentiated service levels for 3G, HSPA and LTE (News - Alert) mobile operators.

RAD Data officials claim ETX-205A lowers equipment costs and simplifies network and service deployments by combining multiple functionalities in a single device. Its synchronization feature set eliminates the need for costly external devices. The sophisticated toolset for remote SLA management enables and streamlines remote monitoring, diagnostics and troubleshooting.

A member of RAD’s EtherAccess portfolio, RAD’s ETX-205A also provides distributed intelligence thanks to its powerful, multi-class of service traffic management capabilities including multi-criteria classification, scheduling, shaping, policing, and queue management. With its robust timing and synchronization capabilities, the multi-functional unit ensures highly accurate traffic delivery.

The ETX-205A can transport up to 1 Gbps of user throughput, with the highest levels of performance and reliability, the company claims. It delivers SLA-based services to customers over native Ethernet access.

The award was presented by IIR Telecoms & Technology and the Metro Ethernet Forum (News - Alert) (MEF). RAD Data was chosen by a panel of judges from leading industry analyst firms Informa, Infonetics, Current Analysis, Ovum and IDC (News - Alert).

“It is an honor to win this award, and the fact that the ETX-205A was chosen by IIR, MEF and five independent industry analysts makes the recognition even more significant,” said Amir Karo, vice president of Marketing and Business Development for RAD Data Communications (News - Alert).

“The mobile backhaul space is where carriers and service providers will focus in these next few years, in order to assure the performance of 4G and LTE services and applications,” Karo added. “The ETX-205A enables them to guarantee that performance cost-effectively, which no doubt impressed the team of judges for the Best Mobile Backhaul Product award.”

RAD Data Communications participated in the Carrier Ethernet World Congress. Amir Karo, vice president of Marketing at RAD Data Communications, participated in the panel discussion entitled “Debating the Role of Carrier Ethernet in Next Generation Access.” Ronen Guri, the company’s director of Business Development for Mobile Backhaul Solutions, participated in “The Pain Points and Their Remedies When Implementing Carrier Ethernet for 3G and LTE.”

At the Carrier Ethernet World Congress, RAD Data also demonstrated its full Network Termination Unit (NTU) platform, ranging from 1 Mbps to 10 Gbps, and carrier class high capacity access aggregation for Ethernet and TDM legacy services.
