iBAHN is enabling hotels to easily upgrade their Wi-Fi offering to guests, at no operating costs. The company has announced a new, guest-sensitive connectivity solution for hotels based on its Freemium model.
iBAHN provides IP platform-based systems and broadband technologies for the hospitality industry. The company intends to offer this model initially to its EMEA customers only.
Although free connectivity is very much in demand by hotel customers, it is not feasible to provide unlimited Internet connections to guests due to commercial reasons. Broadband demand has further increased as business customers increasingly download and upload large documents and are connecting on live conferencing facilities.
Hoteliers can breathe a sigh of relief due the availability of the iBAHN Freemium solution that allows free Wi-Fi connectivity for low-bandwidth engagement and tasks. This model also allows people to choose premium connectivity as a paid-for service if they have more bandwidth-intensive needs.
“We believe our new Freemium model will provide the solution to the demands for free connectivity while ensuring that there are a range of choices to suit those with greater data needs,” said Graeme Powell, MD of iBAHN EMEA. “This offers a low cost, low risk, revenue generating opportunity for the hotel, by allowing users to choose their level of access, thereby increasing guest satisfaction.”
iBAHN notes that the model properties will not pay the company a fee but a chargeable tiered service that will incorporate a portion of the charge going to iBAHN for premium services.
iBAHN was in the news last month for partnering with Bang & Olufsen, the global audio and video brand, to combine Bang & Olufsen's audio visual products with iBAHN's digital entertainment and broadband services for the hospitality market.
