Verizon Wireless Selects Ecrio's Client Software Framework

Ecrio’s mobile framework reportedly has been selected by Verizon Wireless to power the rollout of new communication and messaging services over Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless’ current CDMA High Rate Packet Data (HRPD) and Evolved HRPD networks, as well as its forthcoming 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network.

 

Ecrio (News - Alert) is the leading supplier of real-time communication and commerce client software solutions for the mobile industry.

 

According to Verizon Wireless officials, Ecrio’s SIP/IMS (IP Multi-Media Subsystem) client framework will be embedded on a wide range of devices across the company’s network and streamlines access to popular IP services, including messaging and calling, for existing and new mobile applications.

 

“Verizon Wireless has long understood the power of IMS to enable rich multi-media applications, regardless of technology. It’s a cornerstone of our long-term services infrastructure, so the selection of a strong mobile framework provider was critical”, said Rosemary McNally, executive director at Verizon Wireless, in a statement.

McNally said that the company looks forward to working with Ecrio to deliver an exciting new range of services.

Verizon Wireless operates wireless voice and 3G data network, serving more than 91 million customers. Headquartered in Basking Ridge, N.J., with 83,000 employees nationwide, Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications and Vodafone (News - Alert).

Nagesh Challa, founder and chief executive officer, Ecrio said that this is a landmark day for Ecrio.

We are delighted that Verizon Wireless, known for its world-class network and service delivery, has entrusted Ecrio to help expand the bounds of mobile communications,” said Challa.
