DivX to Capture Emerging Mobile Video Market

The company announced that more than 60 phones from leading manufacturers now have DivX Certification. What’s more, 15 percent of all Android (News - Alert) devices. In addition to this, DivX announced a new licensing agreement with consumer electronics manufacturer Pantech. To top it all, the company has expanded relationship with Qualcomm (News - Alert) to certify the leading Snapdragon IC platform.
DivX creates, distributes and licenses digital video technologies to allow consumers enjoy high quality video across different media environments and this is regardless of connectivity or manufacturer. DivX devices are compatible with a wide variety of consumer electronic products including digital televisions, gaming consoles, Blu-ray players and hundreds others. The company also has a large presence in the mobile phone market since the official launch of the DivX certification program in August 2007. It comes as no surprise then over 250 million DivX devices have shipped into the market worldwide from leading consumer electronics manufacturers.
More than 60 global brands have used DivX certification and the list includes such leading brands as LG and Samsung (News - Alert). Among them, 41 mobile devices were certified by DivX in 2009 alone. In addition to the Android device penetration, DivX also offers certified solutions for Windows Mobile, Symbian (News - Alert) and Linux.
With all DivX Certified devices, customers get the secure playback of major Hollywood titles from studios including Warner Bros., Paramount, Sony Pictures, Starz Entertainment and Lionsgate
Multiple online sites now distribute Hollywood content in the DivX format including CinemaNow (United States), Film Fresh (United States), Warner Video Live (France), FilmOn (UK), Play4Film (Worldwide), INA (France), Channel Films (U.K.), Clic Movies (France, Belgium); Tai Seng (United States, Canada) and L'Harmattan TV (Worldwide);
Agreements are in place from major mobile Integrated Circuits companies including Qualcomm, Renesas, MtekVision, ST Ericsson, Broadcom (News - Alert), and Freescale.
When it comes to streaming Internet content DivX again has solution. DivX TV is the company’s newly launched solution designed for streaming Internet content directly to connected devices. This service can be available on Android-based hardware platforms.
Gone are the days when videos were considered a part of one’s living room experience. With mobile devices becoming an inseparable part of modern lifestyle, consumers are increasingly looking for devices that will help them share video contents and enjoy them while on go. DivX certified devices offer just that.
The company recently showcased their technology innovations at the DivX and Qualcomm booths at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
