Bridgewater Systems, the mobile personalization company, has signed a new four-year agreement with Verizon Wireless. Under their contract, Bridgewater will provide products and services for Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless’ network expansion. The agreement between the two companies is valued at approximately $56 million.

Under the agreement, Bridgewater will provide mobile control solutions as well as maintenance and support services for all current and future 3G solutions. The agreement will also provide the framework for Bridgewater to deliver new products and services to support Verizon Wireless’ (News - Alert) ongoing network expansion across multiple access networks.

“Verizon operates the nation’s largest and most reliable 3G network – and starting this month the world’s first large-scale 4G LTE (News - Alert) network. We are committed to technologies that will ensure our customers an optimal, secure, and personalized mobile broadband experience,” said Ed Chan, vice president of national network operations at Verizon Wireless. “Bridgewater has demonstrated the ability to meet our performance and scalability requirements as we expand our network to deliver advanced mobile broadband services.”

According to Telemanagement, online journal of business telecommunications, Bridgewater will help the wireless carrier manage new and existing network traffic and data. In particular, the wide array of network devices like tablets, video cameras, power meters, appliances and vehicles, present different requirements. They believe that Bridgewater’s software manages subscriber information such as what services they are entitled to use, what device they are using, and if they are on or off a network.

Telemanagement states that Verizon is Bridgewater's largest customer, accounting for 64% of revenue in its latest quarter, and has been a client of Bridgewater's for more than seven years. Analysts believe that about 90 percent of the initial $56 million will be recognized over the first two years. The remaining 10 percent will consist of maintenance and related services.

“Verizon Wireless is a long-standing customer and we look forward to supporting them as they grow their networks and continue to deliver market-leading mobile broadband and machine-to-machine services across their footprint,” said Ed Ogonek, president and CEO of Bridgewater Systems (News - Alert).
