As technology advances so does the delivery system associated with it. Wireless infrastructure equipment has helped companies minimize deployment costs and improve overall company performance. Wireless base stations, such as small cells, have continued to develop making them play a key role in the future of network evolution.

Professional small cells used to hold one channel and have now been changed into multi-channel units allowing for hundreds to be connected at one time. To help with cost, the base stations can be controlled remotely or locally.

PureWave Networks Inc (News - Alert). develops high performance, compact outdoor base stations to help create coverage for the 4G market place. The company said its solutions are “versatile enough to be deployed for small cell urban coverage or for macro base station rural coverage.”

The company, which was established back in 2003, announced it has secured $5 million in Series C funding from investors to help continue to develop its technology and distribute base stations. Don Meiners, PureWave’s Chief Executive Officer, said that the company has been maintaining a steady stream of revenue, which enticed the investors. “Our sales have increased roughly fourfold in 2011 and we expect them to double again this year,” said Meiners.

PureWave offers multiple small cell base stations to be personalized for any business, which has added to its success. The company said it’s all about providing the best in terms of performance. “The company’s flagship PureWave Quantum (News - Alert) family of base stations offers operators advanced performance, in an all outdoors, zero foot print package. “

Meiners said during negotiations for funding, PureWave had something to offer. “With such strong sales growth, we approached this investment round as an opportunity to extend our global reach and to strengthen our presence in key markets,” said Meiners.

According to Meiners, within the first round of discussions the company was able to secure millions from new and existing investors. “We are excited to announce that one of the investors in this financing round is a strategic partner that will extend PureWave’s reach in Asia, give us on-the-ground presence in future growth markets and allow us to better serve our existing Asia-Pacific customers.”
