Jeff Thompson co-founded Towerstream in December 1999 with Philip Urso. Jeff has served as a director since inception and as chief operating officer from inception until November 2005 when he became president and CEO. In 1995, Jeff co-founded and was vice president of operations of EdgeNet Inc., a privately held Internet service provider (which was sold to Citadel Broadcasting Corporation in 1997 and became eFortress ("eFortress")) through 1999. He holds a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts.


Dr. Mohammad Shakouri

Dr. Shakouri serves in the executive management team of Alvarion Ltd in the position of Corporate Vice President, Innovation and Marketing. In addition, Dr. Shakouri serves in a prominent industry role as a Vice President of WiMAX Forum and is also a member of WiMAX Forum board of directors. Dr. Shakouri is regarded as a visionary in WiMAX industry where he has been instrumental in growing WiMAX into a multi billion dollar industry. Considered to be the leading voice for the WiMAX industry, Dr. Shakouri’s diligent efforts have created a global reach for WiMAX Forum with regional presence in many countries. Prior to joining Alvarion, Dr. Shakouri was with Lucent Technologies where he was responsible for managing, building and developing network solutions for European and South American broadband wireless markets.

Before joining Lucent, Dr. Shakouri spent fourteen years in technical and management positions with Hewlett Packard developing microwave and fiber optic communication components and systems. He co-founded the wireless systems division, where he was responsible for the engineering team developing low-cost residential digital wireless systems for U.S. and Asian markets. Dr. Shakouri earned his doctorate in electrical engineering from Stanford University on Subpicosecond GaAs Wafer Probe Systems. In addition to his industry leadership position with the WiMAX Forum, Dr. Shakouri is also on the advisory board for the Wireless Communication Alliance and is an IEEE MTT-SVC 2004 chairman.

Sir Terence Matthews is Chairman of Wesley Clover and also serves as Chairman of Mitel and March Networks, two companies active in developing Internet Protocol (IP) systems for enterprise applications.

Prior to joining March Networks, he served as CEO and Chairman of Newbridge Networks Corporation, a company he founded in 1986. Providing leadership and vision for 14 years, Terry helped Newbridge become a leader in the worldwide data networking industry. When France-based Alcatel acquired Newbridge in May 2000, the company employed more than 6,500 employees and recorded FY 1999 revenue of $1.8 billion. In 1972, before launching Newbridge, Terry co-founded Mitel Corporation. Under his leadership Mitel grew quickly to become a world leader in the design and manufacture of enterprise voice systems and products. In 1985, British Telecom bought controlling interest in Mitel.

In 2001, Terry purchased the worldwide Communications Systems division of Mitel, and the Mitel name, and is now owner and non-executive Chairman of Mitel Corporation, a company focused on providing next generation IP telephony solutions for broadband networks. Terry also serves on the board of directors and is Chairman for a number of high technology companies including Bridgewater Systems, March Networks, Solace Systems and Counterpath Corporation.

In addition Terry holds an honours degree in electronics from the University of Wales, Swansea and is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers and of the Royal Academy of Engineering. He has been awarded honorary doctorates by several universities, including the University of Wales, Glamorgan and Swansea, and Carleton University in Ottawa. In 1994, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, and in the 2001 Queen's Birthday Honours, he was awarded a Knighthood.


Ali Tabassi

Ali Tabassi is senior vice president of global ecosystem & standards for Clearwire, responsible for driving industry standards and the global ecosystem to achieve Clearwire’s corporate strategies. He is also responsible for positioning the corporation as an industry leader in technology & product innovation by leading the company’s global advocacy program. This program educates foreign government regulators & ministers, as well as operators, while also promoting Clearwire’s technology, products, and services resulting in a broader ecosystem. He champions the development and implementation of intellectual property invention disclosures as well as establishing Clearwire’s domestic and international roaming program. Mr. Tabassi also is responsible for Clearwire International’s network engineering and operations in Ireland, Spain, Belgium, Romania, Poland, and Germany.

Mr. Tabassi has over 20 years of experience in the development, integration, and operation of wireless solutions in the telecommunications, networking, and IP industries. Prior to joining Clearwire in 2008, Mr. Tabassi was acting CTO and vice president of technology development and architecture for Sprint Nextel, responsible for leading the development of technology, network, systems architecture and evolution strategies. He also oversaw evaluation of emerging technologies that enable delivery of differentiated products and services in pursuit of new business opportunities. Mr. Tabassi ensured that Sprint Nextel was at the forefront of technology innovation. Prior to Sprint, Mr. Tabassi was EVP and chief technology and development officer for MobileStar, a provider of wireless broadband access. Prior to MobileStar, Mr. Tabassi was vice president of engineering and operations for SkyTel, a leader in wireless messaging, managing network planning, system design, project management, implementation, maintenance, and operations of SkyTel’s Nationwide Traditional and Advanced Messaging Networks. Mr. Tabassi also served as director of engineering services for both Alltel Mobile, the cellular division of ALLTEL Corporation, and for LCC International, one of the world's leading telecommunication consulting firms.

Mr. Tabassi holds a MBA and two Bachelor of Science degrees, in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics.
