LG Electronics USA Chooses Widen Media Collective to Provide Digital Asset Management Tools to Over 100,000 Users

MADISON, WI, Jul 10, 2013 (Marketwired via COMTEX) -- LG Electronics USA (KRX: 066570) (LSE: LGLD), a global leader in consumer electronics, home appliances, and mobile communications, has selected the Widen Media Collective to replace the company's in-house asset management website. Widen's cloud-based DAM system will give over 100,000 users faster preview and download capabilities, self-service template customization, and an industry-leading user interface to support the multinational's global marketing and advertising efforts.

"We utilized a custom website to house all of our digital assets, but we knew there was a better way, so we did some research on what industry leaders utilized," said Michael Zelicskovics, Content Manager at LG Electronics USA.

LG's in-house digital media library was failing to provide the convenience and toolset the company needed. The 5 year-old website's functionality had fallen far behind leading cloud-based SaaS DAM systems, which are continually advanced with updates and new editions. LG's users could not preview assets or download more than one at a time. The system's inefficiencies impeded LG's marketing, advertising, and branding efforts.

"We discovered DAM systems and then chose Widen because they are best-in-class," said Zelicskovics. "It was everything I thought I wanted in a DAM system and more. I looked at many systems and none of them looked as intuitive or as 'Web 2.0' as Widen. Their customer service sealed the deal. It was a no-brainer." According to Zelicskovics, Widen's Dynamic Media Builder was also a critical factor in LG's decision. Previously, all LG dealers needed a designer to customize their ads. However, the Media Builder allowed LG to upload brand-approved creative files, which dealers could then customize with their own text and images. The Media Builder eliminated additional design fees and hastened both the distribution and use of the latest brand assets.

LG's user base will include over 100,000 users across the company's Home Electronics, Home Appliances, and Mobile divisions. External users will include ad agency partners and distributors. LG's customized Widen DAM system will house product photography, marketing collateral, online assets, owners' manuals, advertising assets, and training materials.

"Global Power Brands like LG create, distribute and repurpose assets on a scale that is difficult to maintain and manage with in-house home-made solutions. LG, like many other large enterprises, felt these pains and looked for a better solution," said Al Falaschi, customer marketing manager at Widen. "Scalability and the ability to innovate functionality are core strengths of Widen's SaaS Digital Asset Management solution. We take care of upgrades and scaling, enabling marketers, sales teams, executives, and creatives to do what only they can do. We're excited about our partnership with LG and look forward to helping them maximize usage of their digital assets."
