Touchless security moves to Middle East

Leading global vendor in biometric sensor system commits to Middle East as gateway between East and West

Dubai, 29 March 2004: TST Sales & Marketing AG (TST), a young, international group of German high-tech companies, has now set up operations in the Middle East under the name TST Arabia LLC, beginning with offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi as part of its strategy of basing its global operations in the region. TST has built a reputation in the short time it has been in operations for its unique, biometric sensor system for touchless recognition of fingerprints and other security systems, some the result of its recent merger with CCC Corona.

Managing Director, Rainer Erdmann, personally feels a strong commitment to the Middle East and is moving to the region to head up its new global operations based in Dubai.
“We will be investing heavily in resources in the Middle East to ensure that both our customers and our partners get the highest level of support and the benefits of our latest research and technology,” he said. “From our offices in UAE, TST Arabia will be the gateway to both Europe and the Far East. Our mission is to combine worldwide leading technological know-how of fingerprint recognition with consulting and development expertise in total identification system solutions.”

TST owns global patents for touchless optical recognition of fingers, palms and hands. The strength of its touchless Optical Fingerprint Recognition system is based on High Accuracy Sensor Technology. This unique technology and system is based on “no contact between sensor and skin surface”, therefore eliminating the need for latent fingerprints. It prevents fraud based on Live Finger Detection (LFD), the only biometric sensor technology for applications requiring high usage frequency with unlimited number of users.

Established in Germany more than five years ago, TST concentrates on its core business and is open to cooperation with OEMs, sales partners, but also producers of algorithms or control systems to ensure that the best technology is available to the Middle East, based on customer and market requirements.

TST also used the opportunity to introduce BiRD lli based on its patented Touchless Sensors. The BiRD lli does not, unlike conventional fingerprint recognition methods, require direct contact between the sensor and the skin surface. The light reflected by the finger ridges is converted into electrical signals in the CMOS-sensor thus generating an image of the skin surface. This image is encoded; the individual data (the minutiae code) is extracted and used for subsequent comparison. Thus, on the one hand rapid processing is guaranteed, on the other hand the original fingerprint image cannot be reproduced.

“The biometric market is turning into the most significant security and identification market in the future,” pointed out Erdmann. “As a leading global provider of high-quality identification system solutions based on optical fingerprint recognition, we have been overwhelmed by the strong support from this region and look forward to forging strong partnerships in the future.”

TST is planning to tie up with leading system integrators in the region, especially those potential partners that work closely with the government, travel, finance, industry and trade sectors.

“Our systems have been successfully used to not only monitor physical security but also to monitor time and attendance, civil ID, PC/network access, surveillance and screening,” shared Erdmann. “We have also supplied solutions to match the needs of the individuals for their own personal home security.”

TST will be setting up individual partnerships in all the countries in the Middle East to ensure that the customers in each country receive individual attention to their needs.

About TST
TST Sales & Marketing AG (TST) is a young, internationally operating group of high-tech companies. It has developed and patented a new unique, biometric sensor system for touchless recognition of fingerprints. Based on customer and market requirements, the employees analyse specific ideas, propose solutions and develop these into finished products - as in the case of the touchless BiRD lli fingerprint-sensor.
TST concentrates on its core business and is open to cooperation's. OEM's, sales partners, but also producers of algorithms or control systems can gain market segments when working with TST. With the Touchless Sensors supplied by TST you may optimise your products with a unique technology not otherwise available.
