Ztango and moodmessaging Enable Wireless Multimedia Users to Express Emotions Via Icons

RESTON, Va. and SYDNEY, Australia, March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Ztango, a leading wireless messaging and multimedia services provider, today announced a content distribution agreement with moodmessaging, an Australian-based multimedia content development company, to provide an innovative new moodmessaging service offer.
The agreement grants Ztango the ability to distribute the IamEmo content library that moodmessaging has developed, under the IamEmo brand. Consumers can download color animations featuring Emo the Chameleon onto their mobile phones and send them as part of an MMS message to their friends, families and colleagues.
The animations feature Emo the Chameleon using color, facial expressions and body language to illustrate one of eight human emotions in a number of different guises. Emo adds emotional context to ordinary text messages, transforming messaging from plain black-and-white text to a colorful, engaging, meaningful experiences.
The initial concept of using colors to express emotion came from Carter Holt Harvey, a large paper and forestry company located in New Zealand. Since then, moodmessaging has carried out extensive psychological, physiological and cultural research to develop a comprehensive dictionary of the relationships between specific emotions and specific colors. Depending on what mood you are in, you can download the Emo that best represents your emotion, store the image in your phone and send it as many times as you like.
Wireless multimedia and messaging are coming together, giving consumers better forms of communications and allowing wireless carriers to boost their revenue streams, said Vern Poyner, chief executive officer of Ztango. For years, individuals have been using simple text messages to communicate. With the IamEmo character, it's now even easier to express how you feel. MMS has been devoid of good content, but with Emo, consumers can use MMS to express how they feel instead of simply typing in 'Gr8'.
Emo will enable users to finally let people know how they really feel, said Kevin Brough, chief executive officer of moodmessaging. Quite often, an SMS does not offer users the ability to accurately covey their emotions. By inserting Emo into their messages, users can have fun, personalize their messages, and be sure their emotional state is clearly communicated.
