New Linksys Wireless-G Internet Video Camera Sends Live Video With Sound Through the Internet to a Web Browser Anywhere in the World!

IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Linksys(R), a division of Cisco Systems, Inc., the leading provider of broadband, wireless and networking hardware for the consumer and Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) markets, today announced the availability of the Wireless-G Internet Video Camera (WVC54G), a new device providing users a unique and affordable way to monitor the home and office via a web browser, from anywhere in the world where the user has Internet access. This compact, self-contained unit sends a high-quality live video stream with sound through the Internet. Unlike standard "web cams" requiring an attached PC, the Internet Video Camera contains its own IP address, so users can easily connect to an existing Ethernet or Wireless network.
Once connected to the home or office network, either mounted on a wall or positioned on a desk-top in its own stand, the Wireless-G Internet Video Camera allows users to see the clear camera view of an office or any room in the home. "We are pleased to announce our next version of our Wireless Internet Video Camera," said Mike Wagner, Linksys worldwide director of marketing. "The Wireless-G Video Camera is an ideal monitoring camera that can be used in many different settings -- from the office to the home, users will be able to keep on eye and ear on what is going on in those environments."
Advanced features of the Wireless-G Internet Video Camera include a Security mode. When the camera detects motion, it begins to record the video and audio feed and alongside sends an e-mail alert to the office, a pager or a cell phone. Up to three e-mail alerts can be sent simultaneously, including a short video clip in an email attachment.

*Viewer and Recorder Utility

The Internet video camera includes a Viewer & Recorder utility, which lets users record the audio and video stream with date and time stamp to a local hard drive "live" or on a predetermined schedule. This is ideal for people who would like to view activities that took place the day the camera was recording.
**SoloLink(TM) Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS) Service
Linksys is also offering an optional service that makes the use and access of its wireless home products easier and friendlier. Many Internet providers assign a new IP address to a connection from time to time or anytime an Internet connection is restarted. The SoloLink(TM) service is a DDNS service that keeps track of the IP address of the camera, even when it changes, with an easy to remember web address the customer selects so the camera's video stream can be found quickly and easily. All customers receive a free 90-day trial of the SoloLink service with the purchase of the Wireless-G Video Camera. The price of the SoloLink service starts at $19.99 for a 1-year subscription.
