Spanish Language Data Services Debut on U.S. Cellular

CHICAGO, Aug. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Cellular has teamed up with Univision Movil to provide customers with expanded Latin content and wireless services in Spanish. Cell phone users now can download Latin content including music, games and news services in Spanish through Univision Online. The new category, "En Espanol" is available through U.S. Cellular's easyedge(SM) suite of data applications. The new feature provides access to the growing number of Hispanic customers to informative, entertaining, convenient and relevant information.
"U.S. Cellular's partnership with Univision Movil provides more options for more of our customers," said Carlos M. Garcia, Hispanic segment marketing manager, U.S. Cellular. "This partnership underscores our commitment to providing the best customer experience to our Hispanic customers."
U.S. Cellular's launch of Univision Movil signals a growing trend in the wireless industry toward cell phone use linked to lifestyle choices, not just the convenience of being able to place a call. Hispanic cell phone customers use wireless data applications more than the general population and spend 25 percent more per month on cell phone service. Garcia adds that 29 percent of Hispanics download, more than any other group.
Five new applications now are available through U.S. Cellular's collaboration with Univision Movil. The new content is available through the company's new "En Espanol" category accessible through easyedge(SM). Customers can download ring tones or real music clips from popular Latin artists in a variety of music genres in addition to images and games at the touch of a button. Cell phone users also may access the day's latest news headlines and stories from Univision Online.
Univision Movil's suite of applications includes content from all of Univision's media properties, top-tier Latin artists and celebrities, exclusive original content and a robust music catalog. For more information visit http://www.univisionmovil.com/ .
