Genesis Networks Expands Video Delivery Network for APTN

NEW YORK, May 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Genesis Networks (http://www.gen-networks.com/) has expanded the 9-city "Portable Bandwidth" network it provides to Associated Press Television News (APTN) powering APTN Connect, the 24/7 video delivery service for broadcasters. The network -- which enables APTN to move its bandwidth as the news moves -- now serves Rome, London, Paris, Brussels, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and, most recently, Madrid.
Using Genesis Networks' Portable Bandwidth Services and proprietary booking and scheduling system, APTN can send video feeds and news footage from news bureaus to its master control studio in London at a huge savings by moving its bandwidth anywhere on the network as needs change. APTN Connect, launched in early 2004, allows video delivery using 6.5 Mb, expandable to 8 Mb, with bursts up to 34 Mb if required.

Genesis Networks' Portable Bandwidth service is a new concept in video transmission allowing users to manage connectivity over Genesis' MPLS/IP network as requirements change. More flexible and cost effective than traditional private lines, it puts control in the broadcaster's hands while maintaining quality of service levels. Using Genesis' web-based, user-friendly IRIS software, customers easily book and monitor their video services in real- time.

Genesis Networks provides full-time local, domestic and international video transmission services over fiber and satellites as well as occasional transmission services for news, sports and special events. Launched in 2002, Genesis serves Tier 1 broadcasters and also provides distribution services to North American cable systems for Latin American and Asian ethnic broadcasters.
