Four miners still trapped in coal mine accident in C. China

(Comtex Energy Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)CHANGSHA, Jan 18, 2006 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Four miners were still trapped in
a coal mine flooding that took place seven days ago in central
China's Hunan Province, rescuers said Wednesday.

Huge amount of silted mud and cinder hampered the rescue
efforts, said Huang Jianguang, deputy director of the Changsha
station of Hunan Administration of Coal-Mine Safety.

Rescuers have gone down the mine several times in search of the
trapped miners, but their efforts were in vain.

The accident took place last Wednesday when 33 miners were
working at the Tangshi Colliery in Zhuzhou County. Twenty-nine of
them managed to escape while four others got trapped.

Rescuers said that there is too much silted mud and cinder
underground, which made it hard for rescuers to pump water.
