Tail-f Systems Launches First Commercially Available Configuration Management Solution Built Around NETCONF Standard

LAS VEGAS & STOCKHOLM, Sweden --(Business Wire)-- Tail-f Systems, a leading software developer of XML-based network management solutions, today announced ConfM, the first commercially available configuration management solution designed around the IETF's (Internet Engineering Task Force) NETCONF protocol. This new software builds on the power of the NETCONF standard to offer automated provisioning, accelerated implementation, and reduced complexity for network configuration.

Traditionally, network operators relied on manual configuration, scripting, or SNMP to configure their networks, but these approaches are expensive, unreliable, and incapable of scaling to the needs of large networks. NETCONF solves this problem by providing a robust mechanism for automated network configuration and integrated techniques, including transaction management, validations, and rollbacks. Tail-f's ConfM is a Java-based software engine that leverages NETCONF's transaction management function, combining multiple configuration changes into one single transaction to ensure consistency.
