SHANGHAI, Feb 10, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) --
Motorola (China), the China-based branch under the global cell phone maker Motorola, is to release its layoff list on February 10, 2009, said sources.

The company was said to cut hundreds of jobs this time. However, people in Motorola (China) did not confirm the story. The company will cut jobs in line with the division assessment and the Labor Law of China, the people said.

As early as mid January, Motorola announced that it would cut 4,000 jobs all over the world in 2009, including 3,000 jobs related to cell phone division. People close to the issue disclosed that hundreds of Chinese employees would be fired this time and most of them were for cell phone division. But people in the company said that Motorola (China) had not worked out its layoff plan till now.

In the fourth quarter of last year, Motorola suffered a loss of USD 3.6 billion, according to its financial results. Only 19.2 million cell phones were sold, plunging 53%.
