Las Cruces Sun-News, N.M., Brook Stockberger column: WHAT'S NEW: Another Cricket store opens doors in Las Cruces
LAS CRUCES, Jun 05, 2009 (Las Cruces Sun-News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
A new store that sells Cricket cell phones and wireless plans has opened in Las Cruces.
Located at 304 Wyatt Drive, Suite 1, the store is owned by Express Communications, which is a Cricket dealer.
"People can make payments, we have all the accessories and phones," said manager Armando Quinones.
The store is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The phone number for the store is (575) 527-5456.
Boot Barn celebrates grand opening
In November, I reported that the Corral West Ranchwear at Mesilla Valley Mall had changed to a Boot Barn.
Since then, the location "completed a head-to-toe remodel and stocked the shelves with work boots, motorcycle boots, cowboy boots and the very best in Western and work wear," reported Anna Allega with the marketing company KEILBrice, via e-mail.
Last year, the parent company of Cheyenne-based Corral West Ranchwear filed for bankruptcy protection.
In October, Boot Barn Holding Corp. bought 22 BTWW stores in Arizona, California, Nevada and New Mexico. The stores, like the one in Las Cruces, were renamed Boot Barn.
According to bootbarn.com, there are more than 80 Boot Barn stores in six states.
Art shop opens in Ramada
For eight years, the studio and art shop Drawings by Maria Cristina was inside the Old Tortilla Factory in Mesilla.
But the shop has moved into the Ramada Palms Resort at 201 E. University Ave., and
is now called Regalos y Art by Maria Cristina.
The artist told me that her new store is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and 4 to 8 p.m. every day. The phone number is (575) 312-9530.
Good Samaritan project still planned
Good Samaritan Society's Las Cruces campus, which includes senior living as well as assisted living, a nursing home facility and outpatient therapy gym at 3025 Terrace Drive, celebrated its 30th anniversary last week.
Dan Hames, executive director, announced last year that Good Samaritan plans to build a second facility in Las Cruces. He said that, because of the economy, those plans have slowed somewhat, but that the project will break ground in the not-too-distant future.
The new facility will be located near the corner of Northrise Drive and Roadrunner Parkway, behind city fire station No. 6.
