Samsung Releases PL200 14.2 Mega-Pixel Point-and-Shoot Digital Camera

Jul 27, 2010 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Samsung Electronics America, a provider of consumer electronics, announced the introduction of the PL200, a 14.2 mega-pixel point-and-shoot digital camera.

According to Samsung, the PL200 combines features such as HD video recording, optics and a large LCD screen.

"The PL200 is the ideal digital camera for those who value simplicity but also long for a more immersive digital imaging experience," said Reid Sullivan, senior VP of Mobile Entertainment Marketing, Samsung Electronics America. "With the PL200, consumers can experience the versatility offered by other digital cameras, along with a suite of automatic controls, allowing them to step up to the next level of digital camera without stepping outside of their comfort zone." Samsung's PL200, which measures 3.9" x 2.3" x 0.83", includes a slim design that includes a large 3.0" LCD, allowing consumers to frame and review their images and video with ease. The PL200 also incorporates a 7x optical zoom lens (35mm film equivalent focal length of 31mm-217mm) that puts consumers in the middle of the action.

The Samsung PL200 offers a suite of automatic controls to help users capture better images with ease. Samsung's Smart Auto (Still and Movie) scene recognition technology takes the hassle out of capturing great still images or 720p HD video. With the simple touch of a button, consumers can switch the PL200 to Smart Auto (Still and Movie), and it will analyze the current shooting environment and subject and automatically select the most appropriate scene mode and settings for the best results possible. The PL200 also offers Beauty Shot and Smile Shot modes, as well as Blink Detection and Face Detection features. In addition, consumers can take advantage of the Smart Album feature to help manage their images.
