Brilliant Telecommunications launches NTP client with picoChip's picoXcell

Aug 20, 2010 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Brilliant Telecommunications, a supplier of next-generation packet-based, network synchronization equipment and monitoring solutions, has announced the availability of Network Time Protocol, or NTP, client synchronization technology with picoChip's picoXcell PC3xx series systems-on-chip.

Brilliant's timing algorithm utilizes picoChip's next-generation system architecture and silicon to enable original equipment manufacturer femtocell equipment makers to deliver solutions for femtocell and picocell markets.

The joint picoChip and Brilliant timing solution will facilitate advances in frequency division duplex-based femtocell and picocell networks by providing improved frequency accuracy and holdover characteristics with the use of oscillators.

The timing solution, which is available as a licensable NTP client, includes a network timing recovery algorithm to reduce radio frequency interference, ensure quality of service, improve handovers and minimize dropped calls, the company said.
