Network Equipment Technologies Announces Support for Pure IP's Business SIP Trunking Service

FREMONT, CA, Sep 06, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. ("NET") (NASDAQ: NWK) announced today that its UX Series, a gateway for Microsoft Lync Server 2010 with Session Border Controller (SBC), is being adopted by Pure IP as a component of Pure IP's SIP trunking service, both at the core and at the edge of the network for customers deploying Microsoft Lync Server 2010.

Pure IP provides secure SIP trunking services from the UK to New Zealand and is backed by a team with deep communications expertise.

Pure IP delivers secure, feature-rich, high quality service over a public or private Internet connection to help enable successful Microsoft Lync deployments across different locations. A customer using Pure IP's SIP trunking service, with Microsoft Lync, deployed NET's UX2000 with SBC at the core of their network to manage interoperability. The solution was tested by Wipro, an independent interoperability testing house, in their UK labs.

While it is possible for Microsoft Lync customers to connect directly to a SIP trunking service, Pure IP chose NET's UX Series as a customer demarcation device due to its built in resilience, ease of implementation, ease of management, and ease of integration into customer networks. In addition, NET's UX Series has been "Certified Secure" by Miercom, an independent test lab specialized in testing networking and communications equipment. NET's UX2000 with SBC is the first in the UX Series of products from NET.

The UX Series provides an industry leading mediation platform for enterprises seeking the benefits of Microsoft Lync Server 2010 over SIP trunking services by offering the following benefits: -- Superior voice quality -- A comprehensive list of PBX interoperability -- Security from malicious attacks -- Wirespeed encrypted communications -- High density media transcoding -- Intelligent call routing such as Active Directory based call routing and call forking "Interest in SIP trunking services is increasing as customers are looking to reduce their operational expenses. Pure IP's decision to partner with NET is a further validation that customers can rely on the UX Series as an enterprise Session Border Controller for their Lync deployments," said Kevin Isacks, CTO of NET. "Pure IP's choice of NET as their sole SBC provider is a testament to the UX's capabilities as a security-enhanced demarcation device for SIP trunking with Microsoft Lync." "We are very pleased to be working with NET. A Miercom certified secure SBC enhances our already secure SIP trunking business services offering," said Gary Forrest, Managing Director of Pure IP. "Our combined offering delivers superior value to our customers who seek secure end-to-end communications for their SIP trunking and Microsoft Lync networks."
