Check Point R75.40 and GAiA Unified Operating System Achieves Industry Certification from the IPv6 Forum

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 25 May 2012 Release date- 24052012 - Redwood City, CA - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced Check Point's latest software release R75.40 and unified operating system (OS), Check Point GAiA, tested at the UNH Interoperability Laboratory, has received the IPv6 Ready Logo from the IPv6 Forum, a world-wide consortium with a key focus on providing technical guidance to organizations for the secure deployment of IPv6.

Check Point R75.40 adds to the extensive portfolio of certified Check Point products available to those customers that require the highest-level of security certification.

Organizations today use the Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) for their network address and connectivity needs. However, as the pool of unallocated IPv4 addresses is close to being exhausted, it has become essential for many enterprises and global service providers to make the transition to IPv6 and deploy network security solutions that can deliver protection for both IPv6 and IPv4 content.

By achieving Phase Two (Gold) Logo, the IPv6 Forum indicates Check Point R75.40 and GAiA includes all of the mandatory IPv6 core protocols and can interoperate with other IPv6 and IPv4 implementations. In addition, the IPv6 Ready certification demonstrates Check Point R75.40 and GAiA satisfy all of the technical requirements stated by the IPv6 Logo Committee.

'As networks around the world transition to IPv6, companies need to gain a clear understanding of the security challenges that go along with the migration from IPv4,' said Robert Hinden, Check Point fellow and co-inventor of IPv6. 'The IPv6 Ready Logo validates Check Point's commitment to helping customers bridge the gap-not only ensuring our solutions meet stringent industry certifications, but also enabling customers to protect against threats that are unique to IPv6 and adopt best practices necessary for a secure deployment.' Check Point R75.40, GAiA and new security appliances are designed to allow easy interoperability with this new version of the Internet Protocol, helping customers make a seamless and secure transition to IPv6.
