ITS launches 36Mbps fixed wireless broadband service in East Manchester; ITS overhauls CityServe's superfast wireless broadband network following acquisition

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Superfast broadband infrastructure specialist, ITS Technology Group (ITS) has today announced the launch of a faster more reliable 36Mbps business broadband service in East Manchester.

Following the acquisition of wireless broadband provider CityServe in June 2014, ITS has fulfilled its commitment to upgrade the aging network in order to deliver a faster more reliable broadband service to social housing tenants and other residents, and is now able to offer SMEs in the area a business-grade[1] service.

Roy Shelton, CEO of ITS said: "Manchester is the largest city outside of London in terms of output, and although there are pockets of superfast broadband speeds available, the average is a paltry 2Mbps. The wireless network we have acquired and upgraded services a fairly deprived area where many residents and businesses are digitally excluded with little or no connectivity.

"This facility will give residents access to a superfast service that they will be able to pay for as they go; and SMEs can access low cost business-grade services, making it affordable as well as an attractive proposition that will entice businesses to establish themselves in this area." ITS is an approved Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) supplier and residents and businesses that chose to take up these services are eligible for funding. BDUK, part of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, continues to run a SuperConnected Cities programme (SCCP) and Manchester is one of the cities this is supporting. The SCCP's aim is to aid economic growth and jobs across the UK by giving people access to superfast broadband, and ITS' wireless network in East Manchester will help to stimulate the market in this area.

ITS' wireless broadband covers a 25km area which includes 48,000 homes in 3,000 postcodes which include M40, M18 and M11. ITS also offers cloud-based services such as Office 365, as well as wireless CCTV to businesses within the reach of the network.
