Whidbey General Hospital Extends Contract with McKesson Managed Services™

ATLANTA --(Business Wire)--

Whidbey General Hospital has renewed its healthcare IT Outsourcing (ITO) Services contract with McKesson Managed Services (McKesson), extending the business relationship until 2022. McKesson has been the hospital's ITO provider since 1995, providing comprehensive IT management for the 25-bed critical access hospital, as well as several health clinics located on Whidbey Island in Washington's Puget Sound.

As part of this renewal McKesson will provide ITO to support a third-party core clinical and financial system. McKesson will use both on-site and remote resources to support and enable a single EMR at the hospital and its outlying facilities. Services include first-level application support, IT help desk services, network and infrastructure project management, PC/desktop operations and other third-party application support.

Community and critical access hospitals, lik Whidbey General Hospital, are often challenged to recruit and retain top IT talent. With McKesson's ITO services, the organization is provided with the necessary technical knowledge and leadership to effectively support their IT systems.

"McKesson has been a longtime partner of ours," said Tom Tomasino, chief executive officer, Whidbey General Hospital. "I have every confidence that their support will continue to be world-class and enable our caregivers to focus their attention on providing quality patient care vs. IT."

"This contract extension marks a critical step in the evolution of Managed Services," said Nimesh Shah, general manager and senior vice president, McKesson Managed Services. "Our go-forward strategy is to provide dynamic IT services that enable better business and patient health regardless of the hospital's core application system. We believe that our customers need an agile partner that is committed to supporting the overall strategic goals of the hospital."
