Consumers Energy Selects Silver Spring Networks for Customer Engagement and Energy Efficiency Program


REDWOOD CITY, Calif. & JACKSON, Miss. --(Business Wire)--

Silver Spring Networks, Inc. (NYSE: SSNI) today announced that it has been selected for a customer engagement and energy efficiency program by Consumers Energy, which provides natural gas and electricity to 2.9 million Michigan customers across all 68 Lower Peninsula counties. The Silver Spring CustomerIQTM Suite, powered by the Silver Spring SilverLinkTM Sensor Network, will give residential and commercial and industrial (C&I) customers access to near-real time information on their energy usage and management, regardless of whether they currently have a smart meter installed. Consumers has selected Silver Spring to help meet its ambitious goals to improve customer engagement, increase energy efficiency, and create a platform for innovative applications utilizing smart grid big data.

The SilverLink Sensor Network is an innovative approach to organizing, programming, and using any data from any sensor network to fuel any application at up to 10x the speed and 1/10th the cost of traditional utility IT infrastructure. Built on top of SilverLink, the CustomerIQ App Suite, including web portals, e-mail and text message alerts, utility call-center tools, and APIs for third party applications, will offer Consumers a multi-channel, integrated engagement platform that provides a seamless customer and brand experience, while also providing insightful and relevant information to the utility's customers.
