C3 Energy Discusses Smart Grid and Energy Policy at U.S.-Japan Renewable Energy Policy Business Roundtable

C3 Energy Executive Vice President Jim Connaughton spoke on advances in smart grid energy analytics technology and the positive contribution such technology brings to the current energy market, policy and regulatory landscape, at yesterday's Japan-U.S. Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Business Policy Roundtable in Tokyo.

The day-long event was hosted by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, to share a deeper understanding of the changing Japanese and U.S. policy and regulatory landscapes with respect to renewable energy and energy efficiency. It brought together U.S. and Japanese energy companies, technology companies, and government policymakers active in the two energy markets.

"The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Policy Business Dialogue provides an open forum fo the market and government leaders from both Japan and the U.S. to explore business partnerships and policies to more effectively expand renewable energy, support the transition to more competitive and innovative energy markets, and improve the productivity and efficiency of electricity and gas infrastructure. C3 (News - Alert) Energy's smart grid data analytics applications are being deployed across the globe, and Japan is an important part of that growing international market for valuable new energy technologies. During the Roundtable, we discussed how next-generation, big data information technologies like cloud computing and machine learning are improving the efficiency, reliability, safety, and sustainability of the energy system," said Connaughton, who is leading many of C3 Energy's international efforts.

Prior to joining C3 Energy, Connaughton served as executive vice president and senior policy advisor at Exelon Corporation and executive vice president of Corporate Affairs, Public and Environmental Policy at Constellation Energy. From 2001 to 2009, he was chairman of the White House Council on Environmental Quality.
