Cybersecurity, IIoT and Healthcare Business Process Experts Take Center Stage at OMG Special Events Program


The Object Management Group® (OMG®), an international, open membership, not-for-profit technology standards consortium, today announced the agenda and roster of prominent speakers for its Special Events program. The program will be held from December 5-9, 2016 at the Lowes Coronado Bay Hotel in Coronado, California, USA. Co-located with the OMG Technical Meeting, the program is supported by OMG annual sponsors, No Magic and Sparx Systems. Registration is open to the public.

"OMG special events offer attendees the prospect of learning from top-notch speakers and networking with influencers who drive technology standards. For example, one session focuses on IIoT use in energy and smart factories and another on how business process modeling standards can create reusable knowledge artifacts for sharing across medical organizations," said Dr. Richard Soley, Chairman and CEO of OMG.

The program will feature five Information Days-in-depth public forums-on the following topics:



Special Events Summaries
Beginning Monday, December 5th, Dr. Jon Siegel, OMG Vice President, Technology Transfer, will present his tutorial on OMG modeling and middleware standards. On Tuesday, December 6th, the Cybersecurity Workshop will feature cyber experts who have written (and are writing) critical IT/software standards. They will also share business cases where automated risk management, blended with engineering and assurance solutions, address key cyber risk issues. On the same day, speakers at the Healthcare and Business Process Modeling Notation Workshop will explain how the OMG business process modeling standards BPMN™, CMN™, DMN™ can streamline the portability of clinical processes and workflows that govern how protocols are followed and care is delivered in healthcare organizations. For an in-depth discussion on healthcare standards work, attendees registered for the OMG Technical Meeting are invited to join the OMG Healthcare Committee Meeting on December 7th at no additional cost. For those registered only for the Workshop, an additional registration fee of $99 USD is required. On Wednesday morning, December 7th, The Industrial Internet Consortium Smart Factory Task Group will host half-a-day Smart Factory Forum from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Keynote speakers from Bosch Software Innovations, NestlĂ©, Boeing (News - Alert), and General Mills will discuss the influence of IIoT in the manufacturing space. Following up in the afternoon, speakers at IIoT Standards at Work in Energy information day will weigh in on the challenges facing the energy industry, a domain that generates billions of dollars in revenue, is inherently networked (especially in the case of the electric smart grid) and involves critical national infrastructures. Registration Information
All Special Events (including complimentary) require advance registration. The $950 USD registration for the full OMG TC Meeting week includes all Special Event daily fees. Registration fees apply for the Cybersecurity Workshop and the Healthcare and Business Process Modeling Workshop attendees who are not registered for the weekly meeting.
