Advanced Wi-Fi Router Supports 4G WiMAX Devices Worldwide

Next generation mobile broadband and networking solutions provider Greenpacket has released a new portable Wi-Fi router with the introduction of the WN Wi-Fi Network Extender. According to a report posted on 4G-Portal.com website, the WN makes it possible to extend connectivity of 4G and wireline broadband networks. It blends USB and Ethernet ports to allow users to plug in a WiMAX USB dongle or wired ADSL gateway to deliver a complete Wi-Fi connectivity to multiple WiFi-enabled devices, as per the report.

The 4G-Portal.com report indicates that WN is targeted to fulfill multiple wireless networking needs through four convenient implementation scenarios. Designed as a portable travel router for on-the-move mobile professionals, it easily creates an instant hotspot anywhere and everywhere they go, said Greenpacket.

In addition, according to 4G-Portal.com, it also features Wi-Fi Wireless Distribution System (WDS) to link multiple WNs into a wireless mesh network to address the issue of “dead” and “deep” coverage zones. Per this report, WN is tailored for everyday home networking, enabling shared Wi-Fi for WiMAX USB dongles or broadband wireline gateways, be it indoor or outdoor device that does not have an embedded Wi-Fi built-in. Furthermore, the report says that it is also good for SOHOs or SMEs that must interconnect shared networking equipment like network printers or shared storage servers via LAN.

Greenpacket said that WN is a patent pending Wi-Fi router that supports hostless 4G wireless USB devices, which includes the current WiMAX technology and later LTE as well. Plus, it combines 802.11n wireless connectivity, amplifying high-speed indoor experience. And provides users with a high performance wireless network with speed up to 300 Mbps, which is six times faster than a conventional 802.11g wireless network. According to Greenpacket, it is the cheapest and most convenient way to extend wireless or wireline coverage for indoor, outdoor and on-the-go securely.

In a statement, Kelvin Lee, senior general manager of Greenpacket, said, “At Greenpacket, we listen to our customers to determine what new features and technologies we should integrate into our products to address their consumer needs. Our existing clients are pleased with our high performance, award winning UH, but preferred if it supported Wi-Fi convenience.”

“That is why we came up with the WN, a cost effective router to extend the wireless capability of end-users’ existing wireless or wired equipment,” Lee added.
