Elliptic Technologies Unveils SPP-230, a New IPsec Security Protocol Processor

Elliptic Technologies announced that its new SPP-230 IPsec Security Protocol Processor is capable of efficiently securing 4G LTE mobile backhaul networks.

According to Elliptic Technologies, the SPP-230 ESP/AH PDU Processor is a member of Elliptic's Security Protocol Processors (SPP) family and is a highly integrated security product that accelerates IPsec packet processing operations to achieve multi Gbps throughput by providing complete ESP and AH packet transforms on IP packets.

The expanding smartphones and connected devices usage has put tremendous stress backhaul infrastructure performance and security requirements. The new processor is a scalable and cost effective engine that meets the security requirements for wireline and wireless backhaul networks with many powerful features including scatter-gather DMA, QoS for enhanced traffic management support and virtualization designed to allow sharing between multiple CPUs.

Officials with the company ascertained that they are delivering yet another highly integrated security product targeted at IP/Ethernet based mobile backhaul applications. The SPP-230 IPsec engine builds on their commitment to focus on the protocols required to secure data for the most advanced technologies including 4G LTE-Advanced and to deliver complete, scalable and cost-effective security solutions.

Some of the features of the SPP-230 are: full IPv4 and IPv6 support; tunnel and transport modes supported; adds/strips padding; replay check with 32, 64, 128 or 256 packet window; built-in scatter/gather DMA capability offloads system CPU; optimal bus utilization; increased throughput through parallel hashing and encryption; command and status FIFO depth selection offers interrupt coalescence; and more.

The company added that it offers a variety of proven security solutions spanning silicon cores to embedded software, which help facilitate the adoption of advanced wireless technologies. With the new SPP-230 SoC/ASIC developers and embedded system OEMs are going to benefit from reduced time to market, reduced risk and highly tuned solutions for performance, power and size.
