FL-Connect Telecom Services GmbH Gears up for ITEXPO East 2012

The Miami sun and sounds of keynote speeches reverberating from the walls are almost her,e as there are just three days left until ITEXPO East 2012, the world’s largest communications event, which runs from Jan. 31 to Feb. 3.

In just a few days, hundreds of companies and thousands of individuals will flock to Miami, Fla. for a four-day event that boasts dozens of panel discussions, keynote speeches and networking events. Joining in on the fun is FL-Connect Telecom Services GmbH, a company that was founded in 1998 to create solutions for distributors and alternative carriers.

Before heading down south, Founder and CEO of FL-Connect Telecom Services GmbH Daniel Floeckinger sat down with MobilityTechzone to discuss what the company has accomplished over the last few years, where the industry heading and what we can expect from the company at ITEXPO.

The conversation follows below.

What was the most significant technological advancement in the past 12 months and why?

The launch of our iGATE CDMA R-UIM for mobile termination. This opened a brand new market to us and allows customers to also use CDMA networks for mobile termination.

What has been the biggest trend in your market segment and how is it impacting your customers?

Globally, interconnection rates between mobile operators are being reduced. This leads to a situation where our customers are no longer able to finance our systems as the margins are decreasing.

What is the biggest challenge facing your customers today and how is your company helping address that challenge?

The biggest problem for us is the reduction of IC rates, which make business cases obsolete. On the technology side, we always face challenges which, most of the time are easy for us to overcome.

Will cloud-based communications expedite the end of the premises-based PBX market?

There will always be PBXs. The system with the best CAPEX / OPEX will win the race.

What approach has your business taken to social media?  If you have implemented a social media program, have you been able to evaluate your program’s success?

We are operating a Facebook page as well as a Twitter feed. Both have been implemented in a very professional manner. The outcome was 0. In my opinion, social media do not help at all to sell or share information

Does every business need a social media presence? Why or why not?

No. For our business it was waste of time and money. Social media are more effective when targeting mass markets. We are doing the opposite and that’s why it did not work for us.

With Microsoft touting tight integration between its mobile and desktop OS, can it become a major competitor in the enterprise mobile market?

No. Apple and Android are too dominant already. Microsoft has always been behind in using the web and its possibilities.

What can attendees expect from your company at ITEXPO?

Answers to most challenges in mobile termination. Answers our competition cannot deliver.

Make one technology prediction for 2012 and consider its impact.

Forgot to bring my crystal ball with me…
