Ameranth, Inc., a recognized leader in the hospitality technology market, announced Monday that it has entered into a new patent license agreement with Las Vegas, Nevada-based, Skywire Media Inc., also a well-known name in the hospitality technology market. Along with the license agreement, these two companies are to establish a strategic relationship which will exploit their combined expertise in the hospitality gaming market.
Ameranth’s myriad of web and wireless data synchronization inventions are patented and have been widely deployed, making them essential to the modern wireless/web hospitality enterprise. Furthermore, the growth of smartphone use, social networking and wireless networks has made Ameranth’s patents essential to achieve a synchronized system. For example, modern hospitality information technology systems, which perform functions such as online/mobile ordering, reservations, ticketing and related functionality, require the use of Ameranth’s patented synchronized operation inventions.
Because of this, Ameranth has active patent infringement lawsuits against a number of infringing parties, including Agilysys, GrubHub, Exit41, QuikOrder, OpenTable and TicketMob/Laughstub as well as the three largest pizza chains in the US; Papa John's, Domino's and Pizza Hut. Aside from Skywire Media’s license agreement, Ameranth also has patent license agreements with companies such as Radiant, Menusoft, Netwaiter, Brink Software, Savory Mobile, Munchaway, Xpient and Snapfinger.
Vern Yates, Ameranth's chairman and chief executive officer, said of the agreement, "We are delighted to secure this new patent license agreement with Skywire Media. We have known, partnered with and respected Shawn Harris (Skywire Media Inc.'s, founder and chief executive officer) for more than a decade. Together, with his chief operating officer, Thomas Castleberry, they bring a wealth of experience and expertise - combined with a unique vision which will ensure their continued leadership role in the hospitality/gaming market. We are very pleased that they independently sought a license to our patents to ensure that they and their customers have patent coverage from this point forward. We wish them much success ahead."
Ameranth continues to renew and acquire patents, as in February when the company received a “Notice of Allowance” pertaining to 18 new patent claims and in March when 27 of its patents were confirmed in reexamination.
