Canada's new mobile VoIP calling startup, zerofone, is set to offer some big deals for the summer, specifically, a set of discount packages for calling made throughout North America. Their announcement today kicks off a whole new line of impressively-priced packages for those looking to take advantage of the new mobile VoIP movement.
zerofone has dropped its prices for the summer throughout both Canada and the larger North American system alike, and those looking for inexpensive calling plans in Canada should be duly impressed. Their package for unlimited calling to anywhere in Canada, landlines and mobile phones alike, is a mere $2.99 a month. Those who are looking for a better deal can get in on the Canada 400 plan, which allows 400 minutes of calling to anywhere in Canada a month for just $1.99 a month, and both plans can be locked in for those signing up by July 31.
Those looking for calling packages to encompass all of North America, meanwhile, will find that prices are actually fairly comparable with zerofone's North American packages. Normally priced at $9.99 a month, the North America Unlimited calling package has since dropped to $6.99 a month, and covers all of Canada as well as the United States, both mobile and landline alike. This plan too can be locked in if signed up for by July 31.
zerofone is also offering two new entries in what they call their Travel Pack lineup, including the Travel Pack 100 and the International Travel Pack 100. The Travel Pack 100 provides 100 minutes of calling to Canada and the United States for $2.99, and the International Travel Pack 100 provides 100 minutes to Canada, the United States, and more than 50 additional countries for $3.99.
Benjamin Rovet, zerofone's President, says zerofone is "excited to offer these special summer discounts just in time for traveling across the country and beyond," and says that the price reductions were put in play to allow their users to "stay connected with friends and family this summer.”
zerofone users need either an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to use zerofone's calling services via an app that comes with a 30 minute free trial. Then, should the user find zerofone's offerings up to par, they can pick up one of the many packages zerofone offers, including the array of summer specials they've recently announced. The app in turn allows for a variety of extra features like three way conferencing, call hold, and more, and the whole thing works with either Wi-Fi connectivity or via cellular networks like 3G and 4G that are coming online in ever-increasing proportions.
Mobile VoIP use is an increasingly useful way to save money on phone bills, as both businesses and consumers alike are discovering, and many users are looking to cancel their landlines -- even their mobile plans, in some cases -- and replace them with a mobile VoIP plan, or its more stationary equivalent. This will likely pose some issues of its own, especially with mobile and standard data connections becoming increasingly overtaxed with the advent of streaming video, but with consumers looking to make their dollars go farther, it's an issue that will have to be confronted, one way or another. Until then, though, companies like zerofone are providing some truly impressive offerings for their customers, and likely winning a lot of friends in the process.
