NETGEAR recently unveiled its new Wi-Fi Booster for Mobile (WN1000RP), which has been designed to enhance and strengthen an existing Wi-Fi signal, to ensure an improved wireless experience on tablets, smartphones and e-readers.
The newly launched Wi-Fi Booster for Mobile has a price tag of $39.99 and will be available at major retailers in summer 2012. The WN1000RP cashes onto the current multimedia trend, where most mobile users leverage their Wi-Fi to access the Web, stream movies and play online games. The NETGEAR Wi-Fi Booster for Mobile improves an existing Wi-Fi signal throughout the home and even outside on the deck or patio. Another advantage is that the router helps in cutting costs as one automatically gets on their home Wi-Fi networks instead of the carrier's mobile networks. In a March 2012 report by Chetan Sharma, researchers found that 90 percent of tablet owners favor Wi-Fi over mobile data plans, to get online at home. The NETGEAR Wi-Fi Booster for Mobile lets users surf the Internet and stream content using Wi-Fi, unhindered by mobile data plan usage limits.
The NETGEAR Wi-Fi Booster for Mobile is capable of repeating a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal from existing routers to boost performance. Design wise, it doesn’t disappoint and the small form-factor makes it a non-intrusive device. It comes installed with a mobile-friendly browser-based setup and the on board real-time LED indicators help determine optimal placement to ensure the best Wi-Fi coverage.
