Wilocity Enables Mobility without Sacrificing Performance

We live in the age of mobility. Since 2009, sales of notebook computers have been greater than those of desktop computers and, with the recent rise of tablets and smartphones, workers want to have the best “on-the-go” platform possible. To meet the increasing needs of the mobile market, Wilocity was founded in 2007 as a company specializing in 60 GHz multi-gigabit wireless chipsets for mobile computing platforms.

These chipsets will enable mobile device manufacturers to deliver the thinnest and lightest platforms possible without sacrificing performance and functionality that workers need in today’s business world. Wilocity’s products are based on the Wireless Gigabit Alliance (WiGig) specifications, and its technology is intended to provide truly multi-gigabit wireless for a wide range of applications, from I/O to networking to video.

Wilocity’s Wireless PC Express technology helps break the cycle of cable replacement, freeing the mobile computing platform from the constraints of physical size. This technology eliminates all cables, cutting down on hassle and clutter for users.

Recently, Wilocity teamed up with Marvell to deliver new tri-band Wi-Fi products. Working together, the partners will bring WiGig wireless platforms to connect PCs, mobile devices and network infrastructure. They will join forces to develop light platforms over mobile while still providing advanced performance, brining the first truly wireless bus extension to market. This technology will eliminate the need for cables and allow manufacturers to make smaller and smaller devices with fast synching and wireless docking capabilities and low latency. Now that just about everyone has multiple mobile devices, from laptops to tablets to smartphones, this technology will help them connect more easily and at faster speeds.
