Mobility Tech Conference & Expo Pre-Conference Seminar to Focus on the Future of Voice

The Evolution of VoHSPA/VoLTE/RCS is on the Agenda October 2 in Austin, Texas

Norwalk, Conn. – August 4, 2012 -- The Mobility Tech Conference and Expo has expanded to include a pre-conference seminar on “The Evolution of VoHSPA/VoLTE/RCS” October 2 in Austin, Texas, TMC and Crossfire Media announced. The full-day session is designed to help attendees understand the architecture, protocol and procedures to support Voice Over LTE (News - Alert) (long-term evolution) and HSPA (high-speed packet access) systems. Mobility Tech Conference is being held October 3-5 at the Austin Convention Center and is collocated with ITEXPO (News - Alert), the world’s largest and best-attended communications technology show.

The seminar will be led by Neil Wiffen, Principal Technical Consultant with Red Banana Wireless Ltd., and include GSMA (News - Alert) recommendations and guidelines for IMS, SRVCC and CS Fall-back, including the IMS profile for Voice (IR65 / IR 88 / IR92). The standardized VoLTE / VoHSPA evolution features will be presented and the migration / integration paths discussed, including the technical considerations for LTE Interconnect and Roaming.

Topics include:

  • An introduction to voice options in evolved cellular networks, deployment strategies, and LTE voice coverage and performance
  • VoLTE evolution
  • VoLTE / VoHSPA architecture and protocols
  • What’s next with RCS/RCS(e), VoLTE / VoHSPA R10

“I am excited about this precon because its the first step for the wireless operators to move the service of minutes into the model of access. As Skype (News - Alert) and the device makers continue to erode the market for voice communication. The migration of voice to interconnected services is necessary to bring carrier interoperability to the next generation of carrier services,” said Carl Ford (News - Alert), Co-founder of Crossfire Media and VP of Content, Mobility Tech Conference & Expo.

Separate registration for the pre-conference seminar is required. There is also a bundled registration option which includes the seminar and a full conference pass to Mobility Tech Conference & Expo.
