Vuclip, a company that allows users to search for and watch Web videos on video-enabled mobile devices, recently acquired Jigsee, a mobile video streaming company.
Vuclip is the world’s largest independent mobile video company, which aims at providing mobile video to users globally. It’s an important part of millions of users who search and view mobile videos daily on their devices.
The firm serves video on the fly, on any device in all countries of the world.
Headquartered in Milpitas, California, Vuclip has offices in Singapore, Dubai, New Delhi, Mumbai, Shenzhen and Beijing.
Acquisitions such as Jigsee will deliver value to stakeholders such as advertisers, content providers and carriers. They’ll also bring mobile app development talent into Vuclip’s fold, along with additional proprietary video streaming technologies.
Jigsee will certainly add to Vuclip’s strengths.
Nickhil Jakatdar, chief executive officer at Vuclip, said they shared the same vision with Jigsee. Consumers in new and emerging markets are more likely to use low-cost smartphones, such as the Asha Series from Nokia or Android devices from Samsung, on constrained networks. He added that there is a huge market for the mobile ecosystem, but it requires creative problem-solving to ensure a quality user experience.
Vuclip reportedly intends to tackle this problem with unique technology innovation on the browser side, while Jigsee approached it primarily with an application-based vision. He felt that a synergy in these two will deliver optimal value to consumers, both on feature phones as well as low-cost smartphones.
Their new campaign will accelerate their reach into new markets like no one before, he finished.
Jeff Karras, managing director of SingTel Innov8 (one of Vuclip's investors), thought it inspiring that Vuclip delivers on its 'All Things Video' strategy so quickly and aggressively.
With more than 45 million unique monthly users, a viable monetization strategy and strong leadership, Vuclip is positioned to capitalize on the massive growth in mobile video, said Karras.
Consumers of Vuclip will gain immensely in content. Vuclip will soon be offering new apps in the Middle East and South East Asia and India, which complement Vuclip’s browser strategy.
