Sage Telecom is a company that was found in 1996. It began by reselling telecommunications as a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC). This was done primarily in rural markets. Today they provide local phone service, bundled phone service and dial up Internet access 12 states.
Telscape is also a CLEC. The company was founded in 1999. First they merged with Pointe Communications in July 1999 and then with Telscape International in June 2000. In 2001, the company was reacquired by TSG Capital Group and became the New Telscape. In 2006, Gemini Partners and Golden Gate Capital bought out TSG Capital.
Telscape’s main service marketplace is the U.S. Hispanic market. The company was founded on the premise that the Hispanic market has unique and identifiable communications needs. Telscape has engineered the nation’s only bilingual network. They meet the requirements of the Hispanic market by offering a customized telecommunications experience.
Last week, Sage Telecom and Telscape Communications announced the launch of Web on the Go. It is a low cost, nationwide, no contract mobile Internet service. The cost for the service is $4.59 a month and a megabyte of data will cost you 3.5 cents.
A company statement states that Web on the Go is a low cost solution for personal or business users who aren’t interested in overpaying for unlimited data or being locked into an expensive bundled plan. With average use of only $16 a month, Web on the Go users can enjoy their favorite online activities like sending e-mails, posting on Facebook, browsing websites and more.
Lissa Woodard who is the chief marketing officer at Sage and Telscape said, “Mobile internet service is no longer a luxury. At $5 for access, and pay-as-you-go usage, Web on the Go is affordable for everyone from the business traveler to the mom-on-the-go to the road-tripping retiree.”
You can have your choice of either using a USB device for a mobile Internet connection, or you can use a Wi-Fi mobile hotspot that can connect up to five devices, such as tablets, notebooks, laptops, e-reader, as well as other mobile devices.
Web on the Go is a no commitment, with no activation or termination fee with a true pay as you go data plan service. This means that customers won’t be subjected to sluggish, throttled speeds at pre-determined data caps or pay overage fees.
