ZTE Looks to Intel Inside for its Next-Generation Smartphones

ZTE, one of the leading mobile handset manufacturers in the world, recently revealed that the dual core Atom Processor Z2580 from Intel will be present at the heart of their next-generation smartphones. The company will be entering into a strategic collaboration with the Intel to bring significant enhancements to the performance of its smartphones with Intel Inside.

The strategic partnership between ZTE and Intel also includes the fastest of the 3 Cover Trail+ CPUs that were revealed at Mobile World Conference (MWC) 2013, with an approximate clock speed of 2.0 GHz. This is remarkably a higher speed than the last generation 1.6 GHz Atom Z2460 processor from Intel that ZTE integrated into its first-of-a-kind Intel Smartphone, the Android-based ZTE Grand X IN.

According to ZTE, the partnership with Intel is an integral part of the company’s product development strategy in terms of enhancing the customer experience with a next-generation, high performance mobile handset and time-to-market. Currently, ZTE is working closely with Intel to build unique and engaging Smartphones that are based on Intel 2.0 GHz Atom Z2580 Processor with Intel Inside. The dual core processor with advanced Intel Hyper-Threading Technology doubles the computing performance – offering up to three times the graphics capabilities when compared to the earlier version of the Intel Atom Z2460 processor – while also providing the same battery life. The key highlights of Intel Atom Z2580 Processor for smartphones include:

  • High performance processing with 2.0 GHz dual core that enhances mobile experience
  • Intel Hyper-Threading Technology
  • Advanced camera capabilities
  • Award-winning graphics
  • Intel Smart Sound technology
  • Power-efficient and intuitive Intel Burst Performance technology
  • Optimized for Android-based Smartphones
  • Smartphones with Intel Inside deliver an incredible mobile experience at unimaginable high speeds.

ZTE declared that it will build its new smartphones, taking the success of its Grand X IN a step further, but the company didn’t reveal just yet whether the next-generation smartphones will be based on Android or not. There are some other specifications that have also not been announced by ZTE yet.

Overwhelmed with its continuous relationship with ZTE, an Intel spokesperson commented that ZTE is rapidly growing the market for advanced mobile handsets by focusing on building products with capabilities and features that meet customer demand. Intel shares a similar goal, providing its customers with high-performance technology choices that transform into industry-leading products and superior customer service.

According to Hendrik Unkel, director of Marketing and Business Development at Intel, their work with ZTE has enabled them to expand their portfolio of advanced mobile products, bringing exciting designs into the market with Intel Inside. ZTE’s expertise and Intel Atom processors will ultimately deliver a unique combination of competitive battery life, superior performance and a fantastic value for money.

ZTE also looks forward to continuing and expanding its relationship with Intel to support ZTE’s growth in the market segment of high performance smartphones.

ZTE is the fourth largest mobile handset manufacturer in the world, offering a complete suite of mobile devices such as mobile phones, mobile broadband modems, tablets, family desktop integration terminals and hot spots.
