Text2VIP Adjusts Mobile Marketing to Prevent Texting While Driving

Text message marketing providers know the dangers of texting while driving, and the last thing they want is to have a customer’s life on their hands. That’s why Text2VIP has announced that they will no longer use SMS campaigns aimed at drivers through radio or billboards. So if a client wants a billboard that says “Text us for this!” they’re out of luck.

According to reports, the likelihood of crashing while driving goes up 23 times if you’re texting. There are plenty of campaigns about the dangers of it, but there are still those who believe they are the exception to the rule; that they can remain just as alert and focused even while texting, in spite of any evidence to the contrary.

It’s even harder to keep people from texting while driving when there are radio ads and billboards saying that people can get some features, discounts, or anything of the sort by texting a number. While that may be meant for passengers in the car, there’s no way to prevent drivers from doing it as well.

The ban has been seeing support from Text2VIP’s clients, and most of them will not be affected, as the majority of the text message marketing campaigns are conducted inside stores, restaurants, and the like. The e-commerce and agency clients will be the ones affected most, but it’s a small price to pay to prevent accidents.

“Today’s announcement was only a small step in what we believe to be an important direction”, says Terry Robinson, Text2VIP’s executive director. “Providing our stable of text message marketing clients with the most effective and targeted text campaign options remains a top priority for Text2VIP. The inherent dangers associated with texting-and-driving are simply too important to ignore.”

Text2VIP may lose some advertising revenue, but its well worth it, and anything lost is made up for in good will. The dangers of texting while driving are well documented, so rather than be part of the problem, the text message marketing company has decided to be part of the solution. Smartphones, cell phones, and other such devices are incredibly useful, but please, don’t use them while driving.
