TeamViewer Receives Update for Use on Android

TeamViewer, since it’s foundation in 2005, has established itself as one of the main providers of online meeting software, as well as remote controls. It is in this field that it has simplified remote administration within companies to be able to monitor and manage status computer systems remotely, to enable users to access, login and reboot (if needed) any number of hosts by being able to reach and connect with them without leaving the office.

The company has released version 8 of its software on all platforms. Most recently it was released for Linux, and there has been an update for mobile device Android users as well.

The TeamViewer new mobile update provides new functionalities that are essential among Android tablet users, as the platform on such devices has been growing in demand.

This updated app includes direct touch control, which allows easier access for tablets. It can use Windows 8 native gestures to have the Android tablet control Windows 8 devices. This is a remote control that is also now optimized for Android 4.2.

There is also a number of smaller improvements (in the registration process, settings and instructions) that make use of the application and make it much easier for Android tablet users.

According to TeamViewer General Manager Holger Felgner, the update was necessary in response to customers’ growing demand, as the use of Android tablets to access remote machines is quickly spreading.

He concluded saying the newly released update goes to show that the company intends to make it even easier for their customers to have a better experience with their computers and/or mobile devices.

In sum, there is also a new app update that makes mobile remote access easier. It’s capable of controlling computers using an Android tablet, and users may also engage different operating systems (Windows, Mac, and Linux) to access remote computers, even when protected by firewalls and proxy servers.

Those interested in obtaining the  TeamViewer remote control android app, which is available for Android 1.6 and higher, can find it readily available and free to install at the TeamViewer official download page, and at Google Play.

At TeamViewer’s site, there’s the free app for all non-commercial users, as well as the Pro version for use in a commercial environment – which requires licensing and installation to function.
