It's good news for Allot Communications, who announced yesterday that it had secured a substantial order for its Intelligent Steering and Value-Added Services (VAS) Licenses. The order in question represented $6.5 million, and reportedly represented an expansion of an existing deployment for the company. But perhaps even better, the order in question came from a Tier-1 EMEA mobile operator, which is generally a good sign.
With the expansion order in hand, said Tier-1 EMEA mobile operator will be able to expand its overall lineup of Allot Service Gateways already in place by adding both VAS capability and Intelligent Steering to the mix. With VAS and Intelligent Steering, the operator can further augment its systems to redirect application and subscriber traffic alike, allowing for faster, better VAS delivery to further improve the overall user experience.
New service deployment also becomes easier thanks to its use of standard interfaces like Gx and Gy, helping to make the overall picture not only better, but also more efficient and thus cost-effective. Additionally, the Service Gateway itself is meant to be integrated with the Allot SMP and the rest of Allot's product line, opening up more options for providers to take advantage of.
As customers demand more services, being able to get them in play rapidly, effectively, and without incident becomes crucial. Thanks to this order, Allot Communications is able to pick up some credibility in the marketplace as a provider of the necessary solutions to make a mobile operator even better overall. Allot's CEO and President, Rami Hadar, offered some additional commentary on the recent deal, saying that "This order further validates the importance of the Allot Service Gateway in helping operators better capitalize on network traffic. This win drives home Allot's proven ability to provide operators with an ever-growing portfolio of Value-Added Services built on top of our Allot Service Gateway, leading them towards becoming true Digital Lifestyle Providers."
Combining the ability to offer network intelligence and policy enforcement right alongside extra services that can bring in revenue for providers, and bring them all to both 4G and IPv6 environments makes Allot's product line versatile and efficient, giving it a theoretical edge in the field. The expansion of orders with current customers, meanwhile, takes that edge from theoretical to practical as satisfied customers vote with their wallets. It's looking bright for Allot Communications, and for its customers as well.
