Insight Brings New CYOD Solution

Bring Your Own Device policies have been taking over companies across the globe, no matter how big or small those companies are. Now Insight Enterprises has announced a new program called Choose Your Own Device (CYOD). This is being pitched as a managed alternative to the traditional BYOD. This particular solution will allow clients to offer their employees their choice of company-approved devices that all have the right amount of security and standardization. This program is geared towards cutting down on the amount of exposure a company is seeing thanks to burgeoning BYOD policies.

Insight’s CYOD solution has a custom online client portal that allows those clients’ employees the ability to choose the company pre-approved device. The portal basically acts as a kind of online catalog that gives the employee a little more control over what they are going to be using as a mobile device. The catalog also allows the company to more easily list the kinds of devices it is willing to offer up as part of CYOD program.

Insight has changed the way the traditional BYOD programs work by bringing device imaging, asset tagging and direct shipping to the clients who are working with the solution. The company is also willing to help their clients when it comes to recovering old devices that are no longer being used in the program.

"Mobile technology—from laptops to smartphones and beyond, has fundamentally changed how we conduct business," said Insight President and CEO Ken Lamneck. "CYOD allows clients to efficiently embrace mobility by reducing the security risk and improving compliance management as compared to its predecessor, BYOD."

By basically merging what were company policies of only allowing very specific mobile devices onto the company network along with employees desire to choose which devices they actually use, the program is geared towards moving the business world forward.
