Infonetics Names Allot as Deep Packet Inspection Market Leader

Allot Communications was recently named the overall market share leader in the latest Infonetics “Service Provider Deep Packet Inspection Products” report, published near the end of April. According to the report, Allot's increased sales to the Americas and boosted revenue from Asia Pacific helped it secure first place.

Aside from being the overall market share leader, Allot was also named the clear leader in both the mobile DPI market and the wireless DPI segment — an area which Infonetics forecasts will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 33 percent by 2017.

“As a pioneer in this space, Allot helped reshape the DPI market and our Service Gateway continues to meet the evolving needs of operators as they roll out their LTE networks,” said Andrei Elefant, VP of Product Management and Marketing at Allot Communications. “Being recognized by Infonetics as the market share leader demonstrates the importance of the Allot Service Gateway’s tailored services to enable further monetization of network providers’ investments.”

This news comes shortly after Allot's announcement that it has named Dov Baharav — formerly president of Amdocs' principal U.S. subsidiary and chief financial officer, then CEO of Amdocs Management — to its board of directors.

As the DPI market evolved from selling boxes to incorporating DPI technology into solutions that enable service providers to address specific business issues, Allot has expanded its product portfolio to keep up. Its recent acquisitions of Ortiva Wireless and Oversi in particular were singled out by Shira Levine, directing analyst of Service Enablement and Subscriber Intelligence at Infonetics, as allowing Allot to provide integrated offerings to manage rising video consumption, a primary concern for network operators.

Indeed, operators are seeking out solutions that both manage the rapid increase in traffic and include capabilities such as video optimization, content caching and usage-based billing. The Allot Gateway provides these options.
