Single Number Reach to Apple iOS, Android through Toshiba's IPMobility for Strata CIX

It would seem that now you can take a piece of your office with you no matter where you go. The Telecommunications System Division of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. announced yesterday a way to do this. IPMobility for Toshiba’s Strata CIX suite of IP business phone systems is the solution.

Mobile IP or IPMobility is a standard communications protocol that is designed to allow mobile device users to move from one network to another while maintaining a permanent IP address. A lot of companies have their employees work from home. Toshiba’s Strata CIX system can help to streamline their communications wherever and however their employees work.

Toshiba's IPMobility for Strata CIX delivers a single number reach to both Apple and Android smartphones. This number is used for both incoming and outgoing calls. What does this actually mean? It means that users only need to provide their office telephone numbers to receive incoming calls. This is accomplished utilizing the existing Strata CIX follow-me feature.

With this feature, if a client calls your office number, the call is redirected to your smartphone. The same holds true in reverse. You can make an outgoing call and it will be re-routed the Strata CIX using IPMobility. The person that you are calling will see your office number as their incoming call.

Another feature is that the user has the option of dialing directly through the Strata CIX or they can have the Strata CIX call them back before making the outbound call. This is a way to avoid mobile network long distance charges.

IPMobility can also provide the user with visual voice mail. This way they can remotely manage and have control over their Strata CIX Messaging voice mailbox. You can basically interact with your office voice mail as if you were sitting at your desk.

This can be a huge help to small and medium sized businesses (SMBs). According to Toshiba, IPMobility is available for Toshiba's Strata CIX and IPedge IP business telephone systems. It is compatible with most Apple and Android platform mobile devices. This includes Apple iOS versions 5 and 6, Motorola Droid, Sony Xperia and Samsung Galaxy, along with others.

IPMobility is available now on the IPedge Application Server series for new Strata CIX systems. If you have an existing system it can be added as an application.
