Global provider of networking products, TP-LINK, has secured a national distribution deal with Walmart, which will see two of its portable wireless networking products available in approximately 800 Walmart stores across the U.S. The two products will cover most home networking needs, with the first being the TL-WR700N 150 Mbps Wireless N Nano Router and the second being the TP-LINK TL-MR3040 Portable Battery Powered 3G/4G Wireless N Router.
"Walmart is trying to fill a void for portable and mobile networking products as well as assess the TP-LINK value," said Lewis Wu, country manager of TP-LINK USA. "Should these products perform as we expect them to, there will be opportunities to offer more TP-LINK products to Walmart's customers."
The TL-WR700N Nano Router, like any standard home router, offers wireless connectivity of any wired broadband Internet, sharing Internet within its broadcast range at speeds up to 150 Mbps. However, as a Nano Router, the device is able to fit inside the average pocket, making it ideal for connecting various Wi-Fi capable devices — smartphones, tablets, computers and portable games consoles — while on the go.
Best of all, the TL-WR700N's price point matches its size, making it a good choice for students and those who are frequently on the go.
The TL-MR3040 Portable Battery Powered 3G/4G Wireless N Router, on the other hand, is a device that pairs with any 3G/4G USB modem. Users need only plug their 3G/4G USB modem into the TL-MR3040, which will then broadcast a standard Wi-Fi signal that can connect up to five devices simultaneously to the mobile data network. The ease of use offered by this TP-LINK 3G/4G router allows users to have a mobile wireless Internet hotspot setup within minutes.
This device also sports a travel-friendly design and is powered by an internal rechargeable 2,000 mAh battery.
Both of these devices are available at various Walmart locations as of May 13.
